Lt Col Glen Richard Best (USAF Ret.), 99, a resident of Dothan passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Westside Terrace.


Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Dorminy and Sean Nix officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 3:30-4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.


Mr. Best was born January 26, 1918 in Thayer, Missouri and lived there the early part of his life. He worked with Civilian Conservation Corps prior joining the United States Army Air Corps and he served 33 years before he retirement 1975. He lived in Hawaii where he was employed as a sales representative selling Savin Copiers to the military for 10 years prior to relocating to Glendale, AZ. Mr. Best moved to Dothan in 2008 and he loved to exercise and play Bridge. Mr. Best was of the Catholic faith, and he loved his family and was a friend to all who met him.


Survivors include his daughters, Sue Ann Carreon, Marla Jean Reece, and Jan Hartshorne; grandchildren, Kasandra Peterson, Sean Nix, Glen Evans, Eric Evans, Kristen Vesely, and Josh Vesely; 11 great-grandchildren.
