Obituary: Carl Ray Bierbaum

 

LTC (Ret.) Carl Ray Bierbaum passed away Friday, August 7, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 81.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Green Hill Presbyterian Church in Enterprise, Alabama with Rev. Shuford White, Rev. Louie Reynolds, Rev. Samford Turner, Rev. Johnny Belcher, and Rev. David Jamison officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Meadowlawn cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 4 until 6 pm.

LTC Bierbaum was born February 16, 1934 in Litchfield, Illinois to the late Henry Otto and May Pearl Steel Bierbaum.   He was a member of Green Hill Presbyterian Church in Enterprise, Alabama. In addition to his parents, two sisters, Helen Szczepanski, Ruth Baker; one brother, Otto Leroy Bierbaum, and his first wife, Beverly Paden Bierbaum all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Bierbaum, four sons, Curt Otto (Kimberly), Spring Hill, KS, Michael Lee (P.J.), Tallahassee, FL, Ronald Joseph Cowden (Gerri), Panama City, FL, Howard Daniel (Lynda), Palm Harbor, FL; one daughter, Vicki Haddock (David), Murfreesboro, TN; thirteen grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Presbytery of South Alabama Mission Fund at 1211 Main St., Daphne, AL 36526 or Green Hill Presbyterian Church at 735 E Lee St., Enterprise, AL 36330.
