Obituary: Lucile “Lucy” Yancey Childree

 

Lucile “Lucy” Yancey Childree of Decatur, Alabama, recently of Enterprise, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 in the Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Alabama following a courageous battle with cancer.  She was 74.

 

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Enterprise with Rev. Heather Peacock officiating and Judge Dwain Hartwick giving the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church cemetery in Dale County with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 2:00 pm and continuing until service time.

Lucy was born September 9, 1940 in Covington County to the late Henry Yancey and Ann Hattaway. 

 

In addition to her parents, a daughter, Cynthia LaMoin Childree preceded her in death. 

 

Survivors include her husband, Lt. Col. (Retired) William “Curt” Childree, Enterprise, AL, two daughters: Jennifer Erickson (Lee), Decatur, AL and Angela Green (Patrick), Madison, AL; two sisters: Connie Gantt, Titus, AL and Deborah DuBose, Tallassee, AL; two grandchildren: Kari Erickson and Daisy Green; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to thank Bonnie Holley, her niece and caregiver, for her loving care and support during this very difficult time.
