Lucy Hutchison Strickland, lifelong resident of Enterprise, passed away in Birmingham, AL at UAB Medical Center on September 8, 2013 at age 88.  She was born on August 29, 1925 to M. J. and Annie Ceil Baldwin Hutchison and was cherished by everyone that knew her.


Visitation will be at the home of Shelly and Frances Strickland, 106 Country Club Heights from 5:00-8:00, Tuesday, September 10.  Graveside Services will be held at Meadowlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, September, 11 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tonya Elmore officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Exceptional Foundation of Birmingham, 1616 Oxmoor road Birmingham, AL 35209 or the charity of your choice.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Shelly Wade Strickland, Jr. and her brother, Colonel Mortimer James Hutchison.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a 1947 graduate of Alabama College (Montevallo). 


She is survived by her three children Anne (Bill) Johnston, Birmingham, AL, Sarah Eleanor Strickland, Birmingham, AL and Shelly Wade, III (Frances), Enterprise.  She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Will and Lucy Johnston, Birmingham, AL, Byron and Sarah Eleanor Strickland, Enterprise and Charlie Strickland, Washington DC.  Also surviving is her sister-in-law Mrs. Ernest Cox of Chipley, FL.


The family expresses the deepest thanks and love to her devoted caregivers:  Betty Brown, Joyce Dorsey, Annie Jones, Meka Robinson, Tasha Knight, Kathy Dennison, and Gayle Scales.
