Lucy McEntyre Burns Reeves died March 8, 2015, at the age of 84.


Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at 11 A.M. with Dr. Jim Sanders officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 10 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wiregrass Alzheimer’s Resource Center.


Mrs. Reeves was born in Dothan, Alabama, where she lived the majority of her life. She graduated from The University of Alabama where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. As a lifelong advocate of education, she spent over twenty years as a teacher. Later in life, she became a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, serving a term as President of the local chapter. She was also a member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy.


She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lucy Young and Merritt Burns, her sister Barbara Carothers, her husband Col. Jack Reeves, and her sons Merritt Burns and Bill Reeves.


She is survived by: her son Jack (Cathy) Reeves of Gainesville, FL, grandsons Warren (Brandi) Reeves of Dothan, AL and Ty Reeves of Austin, TX, great-grandson Jackson Reeves of Dothan, AL, great-granddaughters Brooke Reeves of Auburn, AL, Camille Reeves and Layton Reeves of Dothan, AL, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
