Malcolm Anthony Benton, 63, of Newton passed away Monday, June 17, 2013 at a local hospital.


Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Coley Holloway officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at Steve's home at 1541 South County Road 21, Ozark, AL.


Mr. Benton was born September 6, 1949 in Henry County and lived in Newville the early years of his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Dothan High School and received his associates degree from Enterprise State Junior College. He was employed with the telephone company for over 45 years as a customer zone technician. Malcolm was an avid fisherman, golfer and die hard Alabama Football fan who loved to spend time with his grandchildren.


Survivors include his wife Emma Rachell Benton; sons, Steven Ashley (Angie) Benton and William Anthony "Tony" (Melissa) Benton; grandsons, Chase Benton, Tanner Benton, and Cole Benton; a brother-in-law Kent (Bridget) Tate; sisters, Sharon Johnson and Myra Gilder; a sister-in-law Norma Snellgrove; several nieces and nephews.
