Marcy Jane White Ray passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 at Hartford Health Care following an extended illness.  She was 70.


 


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford with Rev. Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Hurricane Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery with Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford.  At all other times the family will be at the home of Marcy Jane Ray, 403 Avenue F, Hartford, AL 36344.  Pallbearers will be special family members and friends as requested by Marcy Jane.


 


The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hartford Rescue Squad, 503 S Third Avenue, Hartford, AL 36344 and/or New Prospect Baptist Church, 14496 E County Road 4, Hartford, AL 36344.


 


Marcy Jane (Aunt Mot) was born in the Postoak Community on September 21, 1942 to the late Leonard and Jewell (Tate) White.  She was a lifelong resident of Hartford.  Prior to her retirement she was employed with Van Heusen, the Geneva County School System and as a private sitter.  She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Hartford. She loved her children, family, friends and bingo.


 


Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her spouse of 45 years John R. Ray, parents Leonard and Jewell (Tate) White and an infant brother. Also preceded in death by Gladys Sorrells White Dixon, who Marcy Jane knew as Mama and Walter G. Dixon who Marcy Jane knew as Grandpa.


 


Survivors include her sister Gloria Ford (Clifton) of Hartford, son Johnny Paul Ray (Courtney) of Dothan, daughters Darla White (Don) of Graceville, FL, Donna Dunnaway of Hartford, grandchildren Jaynna Robinson (Richie) of Crestview, FL, Casey White of Graceville, FL, Dakoda Dunnaway of Slocomb, great-grandchildren Trenton and Hunter Robinson, several nieces and nephews and two special friends Bud and Kay Bishop.


 


The family would like to extend special thanks to Hartford Health Care, DaVita Dialysis, Hartford Rescue Squad, Southern Care Hospice, Mid South Home Health, Dr. Guru Prakash, Dr. Olawale Osunsanya, Dr. Glen Gabrielson, Dr. John Marsella, their nurses and staff and Danny and John Shiver.
