Marie Bence Wade Branch, affectionately called MaMarie, 89, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday August 29, 2016 at Glover Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Wingate officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill with Kendall Glover directing. The family will receive friends at Glover Funeral Home on Monday August 29, 2016 from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1152 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama, 36301.
Ms. Branch was born April 11, 1927, daughter of the late Hollis Rosco and Francis Elizabeth Smith Bence. Ms. Branch grew up in the Depression-era surrounded by her beloved mother, father, one brother and six sisters. She moved to Dothan in 1958. While here, she raised her three children, Tommy, Steve and Vikki Wade, and worked as a switchboard operator at GTE until her retirement. She most recently lived at Somerset Assisted Living.
To have known MaMarie was to love her. MaMarie was an avid Alabama fan and had been since her sons’ Alabama football days under Coach Bear Bryant. She was hard-working, affectionate and hilarious. Her favorite activities of late were keeping in touch with all of her friends and family by telephone, but prior to that she was an avid vegetable gardener, fantastic cook and social butterfly who loved playing card games with her friends and family, eating out, and attending any gathering she could find! She was beautiful, gracious, and caring and brought so much love, hope and light into many lives. She and her wonderful stories will be sorely missed by all. “You can telephone, telegraph or tell MaMarie”, her family fondly would say.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dean Branch; mother and father; sisters Lorene, Lullene, Ruth, Betty, Louise, and brother Dean.
She was a beautiful Christian mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to many. Surviving relative include: son Tommy Wade (Donna); son Steve Wade; daughter Vikki Kendrick Smith (Larry); granddaughters Tara Estes, Amy Brown (Brad), Sumerlyn Kendrick, and Heather Forrester; grandsons Jeremy Wade, Adam Kendrick (Heather); and Clint Wade (Miranda); great-grandchildren Weston Glover (Gracie), Katie Shimabukuro, Abby Estes, Colby Shimabukuro, Kyra Bienvenu, Allison Estes, Anne-Catherine Estes, Ella Brown, Savanna Kendrick, Hadley Wade, Ava Wade and Emerson Wade; sister Carolyn Bence Caldwell; and many loving nieces and nephews.
