MARIE  MURPHY

 

ABBEVILLE. . .Marie Murphy, a resident of Abbeville, died Monday morning, June 10, 2013, in Noland Hospital in Dothan. She was 74.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to S.H.A.R.K. (Safe Haven Animal Rescue & Kennels), P.O. Box 126, Abbeville, AL 36310 or to the American Cancer Society, Attn: Katie Rotton, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36311.

            Marie Murphy was born and reared in Abbeville, daughter of the late Christopher Columbus Murphy, Jr. and Donie Mae Howerton Murphy. She lived in Abbeville most of her adult lifetime where she was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Marie was formerly employed as a Registered Nurse. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Krista Mize, a sister, Carolyn McGee, and a brother, Thomas (Buddy) Murphy.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Tara Foster (John), Shalimar, FL; and Carolyn Crawford (Tim), Headland; a son, Tracy Cunningham, Abbeville; a sister, Beulah Ann Murphy, Ozark; three grandchildren, Christopher Pensinger, Chelsea Crawford, and Rebecca Crawford; a son-in-law, James Stinson, Abbeville.
