Marlene Peter, 81, a resident of Dothan passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Wesley Manor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at St. Columba Catholic church Chapel with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.

Mrs. Peter was born November 21, 1934 in Dahinda, IL to the late Luther W. and Lois V. Clark. She married Edgar C. Peter on September 6, 1958 and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy, IL. She was employed for several years with Broadway National Bank in Quincy, IL and also with Lohman Brothers Data Processing. Marlene and her husband became Watkins Distributors for several years retiring in 1995 prior to moving to Dothan in 1996. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church and was active with the Women's Club there as Corresponding Secretary and Club Treasurer. She was also a volunteer at Catholic Social Services for several years and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Peter was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her niece Penny Fuller.

Survivors include her special family Belcher and Nancy Griffin and their sons, Justin and Jarred Griffin. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the nurses and staff of Wesley Manor for the loving care shown during Marlene's extended stay.
