Mrs. Martha Annette Turner passed away peacefully, surrounded by all of those who loved her deeply, on the evening of June 30th, 2014.  She was 84. 


Mrs. Turner was born on the 8th of June 1930 in Ozark, Alabama.  She was married to the late Willie B. Turner for 47 wonderful years.  Mrs. Turner worked for and retired from the Ozark City School system.  She spent the rest of her days enjoying life and spending time with family and friends.  She loved preparing meals for family and was always willing to lend a listening ear to a friend in need.  Most all who knew her called her “Granny” as she was such a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.  She had a smile that would light up a room, and a sense of humor to brighten one’s day.


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her young son, Willie Earl Turner; father, Oscar Thomas; mother, Daisy Thomas Lindsey; and brother, Malcolm Othelia Thomas. 


Mrs. Turner is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Foster Tharpe;  son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Trecie Turner, son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Peggy Turner, all of Ozark;  brothers, James O. Thomas, and wife Suzy, Wayne Thomas, and wife, Myrlene;  grandchildren, Nicole Frysz, and husband, Joseph, Eddie Turner, and wife, Jennifer, Amy Tharpe, Michael Turner, Craig Turner, and wife, Valerie, Carmen Odom, and husband, Richie;  great-grandchildren, Lance Spencer, Gage Hatten, Vada Turner, Alexis C. Frysz, Brodie Turner, Ryan Odom, Ariana Odom, Cody Odom.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Rev. R.E. Dean, Rev.Ed Quattlebaum, Rev. Al Loper, and Rev. David King, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
