 Mary Arnett Whitaker

 Mary Arnett Whitaker, of Dothan, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Hartford Health Care. She was 88.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016  at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. Friday prior to service time.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Music Department, 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL, 36301.

Mrs. Whitaker was born December 7, 1927 in Midland City, Alabama. She was employed with Liberty National for many years prior to her retirement. She had a special love for her nephews and their families. Mrs. Whitaker was one of the original members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and was very active in all aspects of the church.

Mrs. Whitaker is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Walter A. Whitaker, her parents, Lafayette and Jennie Arnett, two brothers, Malcom L. Arnett and J. T. Arnett, two sisters-in-law, Loyce Arnett and Mable Williams and a nephew, John Thomas Arnett.

She is survived by four nephews, Robert Glenn Arnett, Norman Lynn Williams (Nina), Larry Quinn Williams (Nan) and Ted Alexander Williams (Malissa); a special cousin, Irene Arnett Watson and several great nieces and nephews.
