            Mary Charles Smith, a resident of Headland, died early Thursday morning, July 30, 2015, in San Antonio, Texas. She was 78.

            Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 7, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with eulogies to be given by Sid Brannon, Carol Gentemann, Lynn Bullock and Marilyn Peebles.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the mortuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL 36302.

            Mary Charles Smith was a lifelong resident of Headland, daughter of the late Charles Wade Smith and Mary Alice Oates Smith. She attended Auburn University and Troy University. Mary Charles was retired as a Dental Hygienist and was formerly employed in the office of Dr. James W. Vann, Civil Service at Fort Rucker, and also with Dr. Stanley McCardle. She was a member of the Headland United Methodist Church.

            Surviving relatives include her sister, Lynn Smith Bullock (Kip), Cibolo, TX; a niece, Marilyn Peebles (Jonah), Frisco, TX; a nephew, Patrick Charles Johnson, San Antonio, TX; three great-nephews, Hayden, Colin, and Keegan Peebles; numerous cousins.
