ABBEVILLE. . .Mary Helen Sanderlin Watson, a resident of Abbeville, Alabama, died Sunday night, October 26, 2014. She was 69.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 30, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Eric Norris and Reverend Larry Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland.

            Mary Helen was born to Hubert and Florence Lucille Sanderlin of Bluffton, Georgia on April 11, 1945. She was a 1963 graduate of Clay County High School in Ft. Gaines. Shortly thereafter, she began a long career with GTE where she served as an operator and then later as one of the first female telephone switchmen in the Dothan area. Mary Helen attended Chester Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in the Screamer Community. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gerald Watson.
