HEADLAND. . .Matthew Aaron (Matt) Fair, a resident of Headland, died Thursday morning, April 23, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. He was 29.


            Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 27, 2015, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating and a eulogy to be given by Merritt Falkner, Jr. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Monday in the worship center of the church.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the City of Headland Parks & Recreation Department, 25 Grove Street, Headland, AL 36345.


            A lifelong resident of Headland, Matt Fair was a 2004 graduate of Headland High School and also attended Wallace Community College. He was employed by the City of Dothan as an Apprentice Lineman with Dothan Utilities. A passionate football and baseball fan, Matt was currently serving as Head Coach of a youth baseball team in the City of Headland which included his sons. He was a member of the Henry County Rescue Unit and was a former member of the Headland Fire & Rescue Unit. Matt was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland. He was an avid Florida State University football fan and was introduced to the Seminole program by his “Papa Joe Fair”.


            Surviving relatives include the mother of his children, Ashley King Fair, two sons, Conner Joseph Fair and Nolen Matthew Fair, all of Headland; his mother and step-father, Dede and Dennis Coe, Prattville; his father and step-mother, Billy and Christine Fair, Tallahassee, FL; two sisters, Jenna Mead, Wetumpka; and Alexa Fair, Thomasville, GA; a special brother, Merritt Falkner, Headland; a nephew, Carson Fair, a niece, Jaylynn King; Grandparents, Winnofae Fair, Tallahassee; Loretta and Johnny Wade, Headland; James and Dorothy Coe, Napier Field; numerous aunts and uncles including a special uncle, Perry Crews; a special aunt, Amy Hardy; and many cousins; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tim and Debbie King, Sr., Ashford; brothers-in-law from the King family, T. J. King (Jordan), Atlanta; Travis King, Clearwater, FL; and Richard King, Ashford.


            Special friends serving as active pallbearers will be Merritt Falkner, Jeremy Fenn, Josh White, Chris Whiddon,  Zack Crozier, Chase Jones, Mark Bush, T. J. King, Blake Davis and Blaine Medley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the rest of his brothers and co-workers from the City of Dothan.
