PINCKARD. . .Maurine Benton (Bubby) Edwards, a resident of Pinckard, died late Thursday night, January 8, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. She was 93.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, January 11, 2015, in the Pinckard Baptist Church with Brother Hilary Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinckard Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be to the Pinckard Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 188, Pinckard, AL 36371.

            Mrs. Edwards was born and reared in Newton, daughter of the late Pascal Eugene Benton and Mary Belle Lindsay Benton. Upon marriage to the love of her life, Rex, of 63 years, she moved to Pinckard in 1942. Mrs. Edwards was an active member of the Pinckard Baptist Church, the Women’s Sunday School Class, and a past member the Pinckard Study Club. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, William Rex Edwards, four sisters, Jean Benton Inskeep, Mary Benton Hawkins, Zula Benton Otterberg, and Raybon Benton Beasley Hartzog, and a brother, Pat Lindsay Benton.

            Surviving relatives include three daughters, Cherri Green and husband, Jack; Sally Everett and husband, Ronnie, all of Pinckard; and Dixie Bryan and husband, Bobby, Montgomery; a son, Bill Edwards and wife, Wanda, Pinckard; a brother-in-law, Richard Otterberg, Mobile, AL; seven grandchildren, Kelli Harris, Karol Boulware and husband, James, Leigh Ann Dockery and husband, Robert, Jason Everett, Katie Johnston and husband, Jeff, Lisa Milner, William Edwards and wife, Jennifer; a step-grandson, Randy Green and wife, Lora; sixteen great-grandchildren.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Jack Green, Ronnie Everett, Bobby Bryan, Jason Everett, William Edwards, and Nathan Dockery.
