             Maurine Fleming Skipper, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday afternoon, February 25, 2017, in a Dothan hospital. She was 90.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, February 27, 2017, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ray Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Abbeville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 100, Abbeville, AL 36310.


            Mrs. Skipper was born and reared in Henry County, near Shorterville, daughter of the late John Erester Fleming and Ola Pauline Hutto Fleming. She lived in Abbeville most of her lifetime before moving to Dothan in 2008. Mrs. Fleming was a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church. She was retired from WestPoint Stevens after twenty-four years employment. Mrs. Skipper was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Skipper, Sr., four sisters, Rosa Lee Cureton, Willie Byrd Hendley Thompson, Margaret Morris and Trilby Lovett and a brother, Charles Fleming.


            Surviving relatives include four sons, Ira Skipper (Sarah), Abbeville; George Skipper, Jr. (Paz), Headland; Sam Pat Skipper and Terry Skipper (Joy Yates), all of Dothan; four grandchildren, Katie Barnes (A.J.), Jana Newsome (Henry), Skip Skipper (Jennifer), and Terry Skipper, Jr.; several great and great-great-grandchildren.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Terry Skipper, Jr., Skip Skipper, A.J. Barnes, Jake Evans, Coleman Evans and Tim Davis.
