DOTHAN. . .Mavis Adkins Forrester, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday night, May 21, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. She was 89.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, May 24, 2015, in the Bethel Baptist Church, in Ardilla, with Dr. Ricky Plummer and Reverend Andy Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, 3257 East Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL 36301.


            Mrs. Forrester was born and reared in Dale County, daughter of the late Jefferson Loyd Adkins and Mallie Frances Byrd Adkins. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was active in the NGO’s (Never Grow Old). Mrs. Forrester was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Forrester, two sisters, Myrtle Byrd and Myrtice Hardy, five brothers, Murray M. Adkins, Ivey G. Adkins, Malon Adkins, R.O. Adkins and Murray Lee Adkins.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Rebecca Forrester Bond (James), Tuscaloosa; a son, Richard C. (Ricky) Forrester, Jr. (Kathy), Headland; four grandchildren, Emory Landon, Kristin Baxter (Josh), Nicole Taylor (Thad), and Blake Forrester (Sondra); eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Sybil Walden and Lyvonne Hunt.
