Mr. Max Leroy Kennedy, age 81, a resident of Dothan went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 14, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013 in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Lilly officiating.  Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery, 2390 Hartford Highway, Dothan, with Kendall Glover of Glover Funeral Home directing.

 

The family will be receiving friends Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made  to the Michael J. Mr. Kennedy was born on October 16, 1931 in Cottonwood to Mack and Blanch  Kennedy.  He owned and operated Kennedy Appliance Service in Dothan from 1968 until his retirement. Mr. Kennedy was a devoted son, husband, and father who spent most of his life caring for his family.

 

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Blanch Kennedy Battles; father Mack Kennedy; and brother, James Kennedy.

 

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Velma Louise Kennedy, Dothan; beloved and adored son, Max Kennedy, Dothan; daughter, Cindy Willis (Richard), Dothan; and "favorite grandchild", Rickelle Lewis (Shaun), Atlanta, GA.

 

 

The family wishes to give sincere appreciation to close family friends, Buford Moss, Recy Morrison, Sue Waters and her daughter, Jamie, and to Home Instead Senior Care.

 

Special Thanks to caregivers Emily Adams, Edresse Love and Pam Adams.

 

Mr. Kennedy's pallbearers will be as follows: Richard Willis, Neil Willis, Joel Willis, Shaun Lewis, Leon Gibson and Jim Foy.
