Mrs. Meta Omega Snellgrove Adkinson, age 93, of Midland City passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her daughter’s home.



Born May 5, 1921 to the late Charlie and Essie Lashley Snellgrove, she was a member of Friendship Assembly of God Church where she faithfully attended all services. During her lifetime she was employed with Dothan Hosiery, Ansell’s, and Michelin Tire where she was honored as their first retiree. Meta loved cooking for her family, gardening, especially her roses, and the love of going to church to worship her Savior.



In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adkinson was preceded in death by her daughter, Genette; her granddaughter, Kim Matthews; her grandsons, Douglas Seay and Ricky Butler; her brothers, C. W. Snellgrove and Fulton Snellgrove; her sisters, Inez Hughes, Reba Cherry, and Mae Mixon; the fathers of her children, G. B. Williams and Mack Adkinson; and step-daughter, Mary Alice Whiddon.



Survivors include her sons, Jimmy (Barbara) Williams, Larry (Pam) Williams, and Mickey Williams; her daughters, Betty Trammell, Ann (Gene) Odom, Jeannie (Bob) Janacki, Doris (Dan) Lee, Sarah (Paul) Littlefield, and Debbie (Phillip) Deal; and a brother, Lloyd Snellgrove. She also leaves behind a host of loving grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, August 15, 2014 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Williams and Reverend Clarence Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Cowarts Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time, Friday, August 15, 2014.



The family will be accepting flowers or contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center.



The family would like to say a special thank you to all the Hospice staff and to her sitter, Mary Sawyers, who became a loving loyal friend.
