Midori Ryan, 85, died peacefully at Flowers hospital, Saturday, March 4, 2017.


Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday March 8, 2017, at the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 1:30 -2:30 p.m. prior to the service time on Wednesday.


Mrs. Ryan was born on Dec 30, 1931 in Chitose, Japan where she lived until marrying her husband John in 1959. Upon her husband’s retirement from the Army in 1984, Midori became a lifelong resident of Ozark, AL. Midori had a truly charismatic personality and was a wonderful grandmother to her 4 grandchildren.


Her bright smile and cheerful laughter brought joy to all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed cooking for large gatherings, but mostly she loved her dogs, playing Bingo at Ft. Rucker and spending time with family and friends. She was a kind, sweet lady and will be dearly missed.


Midori was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John “JD” Ryan and is survived by her son, John Ryan Jr. (Leigh); her daughter, Gina DeRossett; her 3 granddaughters, Morgan, Megan, and Mary Catherine Ryan and her grandson, Nicholas DeRossett.
