Mildred Evans of Enterprise died June 24, 2013 at the Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Center after a losing battle with Alzheimer’s.  She was 86 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Reverend Billy Cardwell of Enterprise First Assembly of God Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mildred was the only child of the late Flossie Stokes Goodson and Homer Goodson.  She was born on Halloween in 1926 and raised in the Sardis Community.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Evans; and a granddaughter, Selena Kaye Martin.  Mildred was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and spent many happy years working with Sister Agnes Trawick in the Sunday School and Children’s Church activities.  She especially enjoyed the special songs by Sister Trawick and Billy Joe Watson.

Survivors include two children, Jimmy Martin (Gayle) Enterprise, AL and Joyce Rudd, Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Ketena Reichbaum (Lee) Enterprise, AL; Jennifer Jelinek (David) Atlanta, GA; Fischer Reed (Richard Akers) Atlanta, GA; one great-grandchild, Lavie Akers.  Her grandchildren always called her Meme Evans.  Their childhood was filled with happy memories of times spent with her in the kitchen making dinner for the family and out in the backyard working in the garden.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to all her In-Home Caregivers for allowing her to stay in her home as long as possible and to the staff of Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care and kindness during the last years of her life.
