ABBEVILLE. . .Mildred Searcy Dyer, a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday morning, February 5, 2015.  She was 90.

            A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Abbeville United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 28, 2015.  A wake will follow the service in the Family Life Center. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abbeville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 100, Abbeville, AL 36310.

            Mrs. Dyer was born and reared in Abbeville. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Dyer Brown, Abbeville; four grandchildren, Reagan Brown, Brendan Brown (Leona Mason), Shannon Brown (Jared Blakeley), and Rosaleen Brown; four great-grandchildren, Wade Brown, Lila Brown, Coy Blakeley, and Alec Blakeley, a brother, Dan Mitchell Searcy (Linda), Canton, GA and a special cousin Don Skipper (Marilyn), Abbeville; several nieces and nephews.

            Mrs. Dyer was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Manuel Dyer; her parents Wade Watson Searcy and Mavie Hadwin Skipper Searcy; a grandson, Evan Neil Brown, her son-in-law, Mark Dupont Brown, Jr. and a brother, Dr. Robert Wade Searcy and his wife, Lorene, and also a sister Martha Searcy.

         Education: Abbeville High School, Huntingdon College (BS English and Foreign Language); Auburn University ( MS Education and AA Certification), University of Kansas (MS Math) and University of Alabama.

     Work Experience: Henry County Schools (17 years) at Shorterville and Haleburg Elementary and Abbeville High School (Math).  She retired after teaching Math for 20 years at Wallace Community College in Dothan.

    Affiliations:  Abbeville United Methodist Church and Sunday School (taught 55 years), United Methodist Women (local, district, conference), Beta Gamma Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, Abbeville Chicks, Abbeville Garden Club, Homemakers Club and Sugarbelles.
