 Eunice Ivey


Eunice Ivey, 98, died Sunday night, July 27, 2014 at Extendicare Health Center. 


Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Webb Cemetery with Rev. Allie Freeman officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.


Miss Ivey was born June 28, 1916 in Cottonwood and grew up on the family farm in Webb. She attended Alabama College, now the University of Montevallo, graduating in 1939 with a BS degree in Home Economics and General Science. Miss Ivey earned a Master’s degree from the University of Alabama in 1949.


She was employed by Alabama Cooperative Extension Service, now Alabama Cooperative Extension Systems, for 30 years working on the campus of Auburn University. She was employed by the USDA Home Administration for 7 years and Alabama Power Company for one year. Miss Ivey was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dothan.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar G. and Amanda Jane Ivey and brothers, Melborn and Marshall Ivey.


Survivors include her sister, Elsbeth Ivey Barrick; her brother, Ivan Ivey (Betty); her aunt, Vera Ivey; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Webb Cemetery Fund, c/o Lamar Ivey, 3051 Enon Road, Webb, AL 36376.
