Obituary:  Mr. A.C. “Pete” Starling


 


Mr. A.C. “Pete” Starling of Malvern passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Flowers Hospital. He was 78. 


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Scotty Hatcher officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Midland City with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. 


In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery fund, 416 Bethlehem Rd., Midland City, AL 36350. 


Pete was born on July 4, 1934 in Houston County to the late William Calvin and Ethel Jerkins Starling. Despite his lack of education, Pete always had an ability to rise to any occasion and proved to be successful at everything he did. He was a kind and patient man who will be missed.  


He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: William Calvin “Buck” Starling Jr. and R.C. Starling; and one sister, Opal Hall.  


Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Marjorie Starling of Malvern; two stepsons: Douglas and Dennis Miller both of Malvern; one sister, Margie Cobb (Donald) of Webb; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
