Billy Joe Tolar, age 83, of Ashford passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016.
Billy Joe was born August 5, 1932 in Houston County to the late Collie and Damasie Lynn Tolar. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and was considered a workaholic. He owned Bill Tolar Refrigeration and Appliance for many years. Billy Joe served his country in the United States Army and loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ledford, Clinton, T. E. “Ed”, and Carl Tolar.
Survivors include his wife, Miriam Buie Tolar; his sons, Wayne (Mary) Tolar and Tommy (Cathy) Tolar; his grandchildren, Bobby Joe (Katherine) Tolar, Elizabeth (Chris) Dunham, Kim (Tracey) McCord, Kilie (Joe) Hamilton, Holli (Sheldon) Holder, and Nigel (Niki) Aman; his great-grandchildren, Halle Ann Tolar, Kelsey, Casey and Kenley McCord, Micah and Makayla Dunham, Kloie and Samantha Hamilton, Bailey Pike, and Maeghan Aman; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from Liberty Baptist Church with burial following in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 477 Liberty Road, Pansey, AL 36370
The family would like to thank all of the Alacare family and a special thank you to Teresa who has been very devoted and loving all these years. The family would also like to say thank you to Mrs. Karen Smith at the Veteran’s Administration as she has been a true helper to the family.
