Monty was born January 13, 1948 to Cecil and Ann Gibson in Bristol, Virginia. His family travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia due to his father’s dedicated military service. In 1966, he graduated from Ludwigsburg American High School in Stuttgart, Germany. In 1968, he joined the United States Marine Corp and was immediately deployed to Vietnam. He was an infantry soldier when he received several awards and citations such as the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1 device, Rifle and Pistol Expert, the Vietnam Service Medal with 1 cluster, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Vietnam Good Conduct Medal. After returning home from Vietnam, Monty received his B. S. in History from the University of Central Arkansas. He enjoyed “rooting” for his mighty “hawgs”…the Arkansas Razorbacks. His life was also enriched by the love and devotion of his Doberman Pinscher, Sam and his Chocolate Labrador, Ruby.

Monty is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ann Gibson and by his mother-in-law, Betty Paulk.
