Mr. Charlie Hubert Thomas of Dothan passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at his residence. He was 88.



Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 29, 2015, at 2 pm, from the chapel of Ward Wilson funeral home with Dr. Joseph Willis and Pastor Bob Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow from Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.



 The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, March 30 2015, from 6-8 PM.  Flowers will be accepted.



Mr. Thomas was born Oct. 31, 1926 of parents, Dee and Arrie Thomas, in Coffee Co. AL. He moved into Geneva Co. in early childhood and reared on various rental farms under hard work, good strict guidance and the pure love of Mama and Daddy, which unto them was born others, not like him so much perhaps but all was taught, disciplined, and loved the same, whose names are James Brady Thomas, John D. Thomas, Foy Mae Thomas, Sowell, Ellie Margret Thomas Owen, Shirley Louise Thomas Hayes, and Doris Lovonia Thomas. At the beginning of his adult age, he worked in textile industry at Geneva cotton mills. Mr. Thomas entered military service Army from Dec. 1945 to July 1947 and was stationed in Fort Myer Va. At the time of his discharge, he was a duty soldier as guard at the Unknown Soldiers Tomb, Arlington Cemetery, Arlington Va.



Having not trained for any particular skill, he attained various jobs; auto mfg. work, Salesman, Insurance – autos, until approximately last 20 years as aircraft mechanic into retirement 1992. After retirement Mr. Thomas loved spending time outdoors in the garden planting and working with his hands. He loved working with wood, building things, and being a handyman. He also loved fishing whenever possible. 



Survivors include wife Patricia Capayne Thomas, sister Shirley Louise Thomas Hayes



Children Alda Ruth Thomas, Clearwater, Fl; Steven Hubert Thomas, Birmingham, AL;



Mary Lynn Thomas Rogers, Clearwater, FL; Pamela Melita Thomas, Rogers, AR; Roderick Quinton Thomas, Napier Field, AL; Charles Eric Thomas, Winston Salem, NC;



8 Grandchildren,  and 2 Great Grandchildren.
