Mr. Charlie M. Hudson of Elba passed away at his residence on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. He was 88. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Randy Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodman Community Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.


Mr. Hudson was born in Coffee County on October 23, 1926 to the late William E. Hudson and Sarah Frances Sanders Hudson. During WWII Mr. Hudson served in the US Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He retired from Dorsey Trailers after more than forty years of service. In his pastime he loved to raise hogs, fish and work in his garden. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charlie W. “Buck” Hudson and Robert M. “Pete” Hudson; four grandchildren, Charlie Allen Johnson, Barbara Lorraine Hudson, Emma Jean Hudson and Betty Jean Goodwin; great granddaughter, Dasha Destiny Parvin; and two brothers, J.W. Hudson and Hubert Hudson.


He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Nettie Lee Robertson Hudson; four daughters, Ann Johnson, Brenda Kay Johnson (Dock), Nettie Kay Hudson, all of Elba, and Cathy Lee Kirklin (Phillip) of Andalusia; son, Billy Wayne Hudson (Catherine) of Elba; brother, James Hudson (Pearl) of Samson; sister, Lovena Fountain of Texas; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
