Christopher J. “C.J.” Karpovich, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his residence with family and friends at his bedside after a long illness. He was 53.

In accordance with Chris’s wishes, he will be cremated and the family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date.

Chris was born February 17, 1960 to Robert and Hazel Vickers Karpovich. He was raised in Northern Virginia and moved to Alabama in 1991. Chris was employed with Ellenburg Construction for 20 years.

Survivors include his parents; a son, Jason (Stephanie) Karpovich; daughters, Laura Karpovich and Kim Karpovich; granddaughter, Aubrey O’Quinn, all of Columbia; special friends, Chris O’Quinn and Kayla Adams; special friend and companion, Scarlett Adams; niece, Beth Karpovich; nephew, Joe Karpovich; best of friends, Scott Kennedy, Daniel Gaylor and Daniel Adams.

The family wishes to send a grateful thank you to Gentiva Hospice and nurse, Nacola.
