Mr. Dennis R. Finch of Samson passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014.  He was 64.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Samson First United Methodist Church with the Reverends Andy Blackmon, Dan Baughman and Richard Thorne officiating.  Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Samson First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 204 W. Main St., Samson, AL 36477.


Mr. Finch was born in Geneva County on October 8, 1949 to the late W.R. “Willie” Finch and Wilma Brewer Finch.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Cyrus Smith and Michael A. Finch; and brother-in-law, George “Bubba” Sims. He was a longtime and faithful member at the Samson First United Methodist Church. Prior to his retirement he spent forty years in the peanut industry. 


Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Diana D. Finch; two sons, Britt Finch (Paula) and Bren Finch (Morgan); four grandchildren, John Ross Finch, Anslee Hope Finch, Madison Mae Finch and Mackenzie Britton Finch; goddaughter, Leah Day (Chris), all of Samson; step-mother, Minnie Finch of Geneva; two sisters, Annie Clyde Sims of Samson and Sheila Spears (Roy “Moose”) of Dothan; brother, Stanley M. Smith (Karla) of Atlanta; and a sister-in-law, Gail Smith of Jupiter, Fla.
