Obituary: Mr. Gene Pinkston Holman


 


Mr. Gene Pinkston Holman of Hartford passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at SAMC. He was 84. 


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17, in the Hartford First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 


The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time. 


In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 100 Mill St. Hartford, AL 36344. 


Mr. Holman was born August 14, 1928 in Dothan to the late John Tom and Mattibel Pinkston Holman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hartford.  After graduating from Geneva County High School he attended Auburn University and earned a degree in engineering. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. 


In addition to his parents a daughter, Roxanne Holman and a brother, Col. (Ret) Jerry P. Holman preceded him in death. 


Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Sue Folsom Holman; three sons: Michael V. Holman, Freeport, FL, Alan P. Holman, Hartford and John C. Holman, Grayton Beach FL; one brother, Tommy Holman, Vernon, FL; several nieces and nephews.
