Mr. George Rayburn McDuffie of Geneva passed away on December 22, 2014.  He was 77. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Poplar Head United Methodist Church in Holmes County, Fla. with Rev. Jim Mashburn officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Poplar Head United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Margie Harrison, 904 N. Wilson St., Geneva, AL 36340. 


Mr. McDuffie was born in Geneva County on March 12, 1937 to the late James Neal and Bessie Howell McDuffie.  He was a member of Poplar Head United Methodist Church.  After high school Mr. McDuffie joined the US Air Force.  Prior to his retirement he was employed by various contractors at Ft. Rucker for thirty-nine years.  He was a Master Mason and Shriner, and he recently received his fifty-year pin from the Blue Lodge.


He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Ruth Ashely McDuffie of Geneva; two brothers, Robert McDuffie (Juanita) of Woodville, Fla. and Herman McDuffie (Ruby) of Montgomery; very special friend, Michelle Willis (Jeffy) of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
