 Obituary: Mr. Harold Gene Fondren

 

Mr. Harold Gene Fondren of Malvern passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Flowers Hospital. He was 76. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, at Malvern Baptist Church with Rev. Hosea Parker officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. and will continue until service time. At all other times the family will be at the home of Jerry and Madine Gradic, 6506 South Park Ave., Taylor, AL 36301. 

Mr. Fondren was born January 1, 1937 to the late Houston and Blondell Palmer Fondren.

He was a devoted Christian who loved the people of Malvern Baptist Church where he was a member for many years. A proud veteran, Harold faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked as an auto mechanic with Sears until his retirement. 

In addition to his parents, his wife, Janice Faye Fondren; a son, Marty Harold Fondren; a brother, James Fondren all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his daughter, Starla Jones (David), Dothan; five grandchildren: Brandon Wallace, Brady Wallace, Anna Cluck, Emily Jones and Dawson Jones; two great granddaughters; Natalie and Ayla; one sister, Frances Crumpton, Pensacola, FL; a special friend, Peggy Scott; and other extended family and friends.
