Mr. Harry Howard Gardner, 89 of Dothan passed Saturday night, October 5, 2013, at his home, after complications from a serious fall.


 


Visitation is Wednesday, October 9th from 10 – 11 A.M., at Ward Wilson Funeral Home, Dothan, Alabama, with 11:30 graveside service at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Headland, with Reverends Steve Skidmore and Van Cooley officiating.


 


Mr. Gardner, born January 12, 1924, in Excel, Alabama, to Frank and Josephine Wasden Gardner, was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille, Mary and Sally Hill, and one brother, James Franklin.


 


He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathryn Hammond Gardner, one daughter, Melissa Ann Gardner Ames (Dick) of Crystal River, Florida, and four step-children, Dianne Kirkman Wells, Dothan, AL; Debbie Kirkman Dillender (Dan), Sandia, Texas; David Kirkland (Jeva) South Korea; Donna Kirkman Newcomb (David) Montgomery, 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.


 


Harry grew up in Excel, Alabama (Monroe County), served his country in the US Army (World War II), graduated from Auburn University in 1947, and retired from Armour Meat Company. A Deacon at Cloverdale Baptist Church, Harry lived at the same address in Dothan for over 50 years.
