Henry Clayton Byrd, 90, of Wicksburg, passed away early Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Flowers Hospital following an extended illness. He was born March 25, 1922 in Geneva County, the second son of William Jackson and Luria Newsome Byrd.


 


Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Pilgrim Home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.


 


Mr. Byrd served in the CBI Theater during WWII; farmed for many years; attended photography school in Gasden, AL and established the Red Byrd Studio in Hartford, AL.


 


He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sarah Campbell Byrd, brother, Quinton, and sister, Bertha Dillard. Survivors are, son, Gene Byrd, Leesburg, GA, two sisters, Lois Stanwaity, Wicksburg, Evelyn Stanphill, Enterprise, special nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.


 


He was an active member of Pilgrim Home Baptist Church. Donations may be made to Pilgrim Home Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
