Mr. James Clemmie Sheffield, age 70, a resident of Wicksburg died Thursday August 11, 2016 at the SAMC following an extended illness.


Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday August 15, 2016 at the Bethel Baptist Church (Co. Rd. 69 North) in Hartford with Pastor Dwain Tingle and Rev. Terry Glover officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.


The family will be receiving friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Monday at the church prior to services.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions in support of Cancer Services c/o SAMC Foundation, 1922 Fairview Ave., Dothan, AL. 36301.


Mr. Sheffield was born on April 18, 1946 in Pike County the son of of Clemmie Sheffield and Sallie Mae Whitton Sheffield.  He owned & operated Wicksburg Truck & Equipment for 22 years before retirement.  Mr. Sheffield was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Hartford.


He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Lonnie Junior Brackins; son, James Lonnie Sheffield;  brother, Melvin Thomas Sheffield; mother & father-in-law, Geraldine & Hubert Glover; brother-in-law, Alexzine Glover.


Survivors include: wife of 51 years, Sylvia Lavetia Glover Sheffield, Wicksburg; daughter, Jessica Sheffield Andrews (Robbie Adams), Ashford; daughter-in-law, Kelly Sheffield Williamson (Kenny), Eufaula; sister, Hazel Legette, Ozark; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.


Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
