Mr. James D. (J.D.) Yon 89, of Dothan, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at his home.


 


Funeral services will be Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 11 A.M. at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Norris, Rev. Johnny Strickland, and Adger McFaden officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 10 to 11 A.M.


 


Mr Yon was born April 23, 1923, to the late Cleve and Ethel Jones Yon, and lived his early life in Dale County. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Hurley and a brother, Billy Jean Yon.


 


Mr. Yon is survived by his wife of 46 years, Evelyn Virginia Allen Yon. He is survived by four children, James Steve Yon, Roger Yon, and Lori Robbins (Danny), and Gaylon A. Allen, Sr. (Charlotte). He is survived by eleven grandchildren, Steven Yon (Christy), David Yon (Anna), Christa Guin (Tony), Justin McCardle, Mason Phelps, Evan Hurley, Josh McNeal, Caleb McNeal (Stacie), Galyon A. Allen, Jr., Marc Allen (Keli), and Ryan Allen (Tracey). He is also survived by twenty one great-grandchildren.


 


Mr. Yon retired in 1985 from Hayes International Corporation at Napier Field. Mr. Yon had been a member of Mount Zion Assembly of God Church for many years, and for the last two years he and his wife have been members of First Assembly of Dothan, for the last several months unable to attend because of failing health.


 


The family wishes to thank all those of Hospice Advantage for their dedicated service to Mr. Yon and the family during his later days. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mount Zion Assembly of God Church in Grimes, in care of Mr. Billy Raley, P.O. Box 195,Midland City, Al. 36350.
