Mr. James Harlan McWaters of Geneva, Alabama, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 29, 2014. He was 80 years old. He passed away at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Hubert McWaters officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014.

Mr. McWaters was born in Goodman, Alabama on March 22, 1934. After graduating from Geneva High School in Geneva, Alabama, he joined the United States Air Force. He remained in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, faithfully serving his country until his retirement. After retiring, Mr. McWaters returned home to Geneva and was a devoted caretaker to his family and friends until his death. 

Mr. McWaters was preceded in death by his parents, Brady and Minnie (Parrish) McWaters, and his sister Doris Miller. 

He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Kelley of Coffee Springs, Alabama, and Nell (Jim) Kelley of Waterloo, Indiana. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, his extended family, and his many valued friends. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in Mr. McWaters’ name.
