OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME OF OZARK   ~   334‑774‑5348


Mr. James Morris Peters, age 77, of the Mabson Community, died Sunday morning, March 23, 2014, in Dale Medical Center surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.  Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from Mabson United Methodist Church with Reverend Jean Smith and Reverend Tom Skeen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P. M.  Mr. Peters was born June 4, 1936 in Dale County to the late Egie Herbert Peters and Mary Agnes Langford Peters.  He was a truck driver for Parker and Johnson, Madison Construction, and later for Mass Merchandising in Ozark.  Mr. Peters loved to garden and go fishing. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, making cornbread , and fellowship with his family and  friends. Mr. Peters was torn between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Grace Martin; and four brothers, Buster Peters, Randolph Peters, Luther Peters, Gerald Peters.  Survivors include his wife,  Nancy Heath Peters of Ozark;  three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Scott Shipes, Brenda and Terry Jackson, Ginny and Joe Enfinger all of Ozark;  two sons and one daughter-in-law, Paul Peters and Pamela Cochran of Skipperville, Herby and Leigh Peters of Antlers, Oklahoma;  the mother of his children, Jean Peters Sasser;  two sisters, Lucille Hines of Montgomery, Sue Watson of Enterprise.  Ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Mabson United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mr. Tommie Spurlock, 401 South County Road 20, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or  to  the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, Alabama  36111.  For complete information visit www.HolmanFuneralHome.com
