Mr. J.L. Carmichael of Coffee Springs passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his residence. He was 77. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. W. H. Wilson and Rev. Lee Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Geneva directing. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. 


Mr. Carmichael was born on January 13, 1936 in Coffee County to the late Fred and Fannie Murel Medley Carmichael. A proud veteran Mr. Carmichael retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of faithful service. In addition, he retired from Ft. Rucker as an aircraft mechanic. He enjoyed cattle farming and was the District Manager for Electrolux for many years. A faithful Christian, Mr. Carmichael was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Coffee Springs. He was a loving husband and caring father who adored his grandchildren. 


In addition to his parents, a brother, Calvin Carmichael preceded him in death. 


Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Annette Carmichael; one son, Tony Carmichael; three grandchildren: Olivia, Josie and Logan Carmichael all of Coffee Springs.
