Mr. John Elbert Dickerson of Ashford passed away Monday, January 18, 2016. He was 82.


Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bobby Conrad and Tim Mathis officiating.  Burial will follow in Frith Hill Community Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will be receiving friends from 6 PM until 8 PM, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the funeral home.


The family will be accepting flowers or contributions may be made to your charity of choice.


Mr. Dickerson was a member of Frith Hill Community Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and gardening. He was a talented musician who played the steel guitar and piano.


He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Lois Dickerson, infant daughter Tammy Lynn, six brothers and two sisters.


Survivors include her daughters, Judy Stanton and her husband Bill, Linda Mathis, Maxine Halford and her husband George; her grandchildren Kim Case, Michael Mathis, Travis Brookins, Chase Mathis, Kay Creamer; and her great-grandchild Gage Mathis.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Michael Mathis, Tim Mathis, Jonah Patterson, Greg Galloway, Robert Earl Steele, and Frankie Steele.
