Mr. John Jerald “J. J.” McCall, age 78, of Dothan passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015.

 

Born December 7, 1936 in Clio, Alabama to the late Charlie and Mary Essie Casey McCall, J. J. served his country in the United States Army and also worked for Dyncorp for over 34 years until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family and going to the beach. He also enjoyed working with his hands, either outside or on his dune buggies. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Eufaula, Alabama.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, John “Johnny” McCall, Jr.; his brothers, Shelburn, Levy, and Maxie; and his sisters, Mary and Betty.

 

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Harper McCall, his daughters, Anita Kay McCall and Denise M. DePriest (Steve); his grandchildren, Amanda Hahn, Alyson DePriest, Shelby Brackin, Alanah Brackin, and Ryan McCall; his great-grandchildren, Dylan Hahn and Cora Hahn; his brother, Merrill McCall; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother David DePriest officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM (3:30 PM EST) in Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, Wednesday, October 14, 2015, one hour prior to the service.

 

The family will be accepting flowers.
