Mr. John Lewis Morris, age 90,  a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday October 8, 2013 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness. 

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday October 11, 2013 at Memphis Baptist Church with the Reverend Jim Tate officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kendall Glover of Glover Funeral Home directing. 

The family will be receiving friends at the church from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Friday prior to service.  At other times, the family will be at the home of daughter, Joy Kirkland, 113 Hooper Cherry Road, Dothan.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Memphis Baptist Church Building Fund, 4595 Eddins Road, Dothan, AL  36301.

Mr. Morris was born on December 22, 1922 in Cottonwood, the son of Hamilton Green Morris and Lilly Sanders Morris.  He was a member of Memphis Baptist Church.  Mr. Morris was a retired line foreman with GTE Telephone in Dothan after 35 years of service.  He loved to fish & garden, loved his grandchildren and his dog "Sport". 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lena Imogene Davis Morris; a granddaughter, Candace Lynn Morris; sisters, Bertha Ingram and Gladys Wombles; and brothers, Lester Morris and Jack Morris.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Joy Kirkland (David), Dothan; sons, Doug Morris (Charlotte), Ashford and David Morris (Donna), Newton; a brother, Raymond Morris (Barbara), Webb; 9 grandchildren, Pam Hall (Ronald), Natalie Fears (Brian), Sid Morris (Christina), Dustin Morris (Kasey), Stacy Morris (Holly Kay), Sam Davis (Holly), Frank Davis (Jennifer), John David Kirkland and Haley Forrest (Jacob);  13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Stacy Morris, Sam Davis, Frank Davis, Sid Morris, John David Kirkland, Dustin Morris and Sammy Davis.
