Mr. John Ray Wood of Kinston, AL passed away Friday, January 25, 2013. He was 64.


 


Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 28 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Assemble of God Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, January 27, from 6 until 8 p.m.


 


Mr. Wood was born September 8, 1948 to the late J. C. and Louise Todhunter Wood. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He loved spending time with his son-in-law, Junior on his farm with his horses and cows and “tinkering” with his old tractor. Mr. Wood was an avid bowler and enjoyed time spent with Rod, Matt and Larry playing golf.  They used “Rod’s Math” as a guideline. He was a “Go to Man” for anyone who needed help and never met a stranger.


 


In addition to his parents a sister, Audrey Rae Wood preceded him in death.


 


Survivors include his wife of 46 years Patricia Freeman Wood of Kinston, two daughters: Terri Lynn Gonzales (Larry) of Groveland, FL and Carri Ann Gunter (GroverJr.) of Kinston; six grandchildren: Matthew Gonzales, Andrea Gonzales, Stephanie Johnson, Kimberly Ray, Courtney Bass and Alexa Gunter; one great-granddaughter, Adalynn Johnson; two brothers: William “Buster” Wood of Gilmer, TX and William Glen Wood (Marge) of Newberry, FL; numerous special nieces, nephews,aunts, uncles and cousins.
