Mr. Larry Allen Jones, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, and a native of Houston County, died November 10, 2015. He was 72. 

Mr. Jones was educated in the Houston County school system and graduated from Ashford High School in 1961. He later served his apprenticeship in Funeral Service with Ward-Wilson Funeral Home, in Dothan, and attended Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas, where he received a degree in Mortuary Science. Mr. Jones and his wife, Joan Singletary Jones, settled in Greenville, Alabama, where they lived for more than thirty-eight years. While in Greenville, Mr. Jones and his wife, established Jones Funeral Home, which they operated for many years. 

Mr. Jones also owned and operated Greenville Concrete, Inc. and Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery. He also served for eight years on the Greenville City Council and was the Mayor of the City of Greenville for four years. 

In 2007, he retired and with his children having families of their own, he and his beloved wife returned to their roots. 

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Joan Singletary Jones of Dothan; two sons, Jeffery Allen Jones of Greenville and Jason Edward Jones and his wife, Cynthia, of Mobile, AL; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Claire Jones of Greenville, Jeffery Allen “Chip” Jones, II, of Chelsea, AL, Jordan Caroline Jones of Mobile, and Butler Monroe Jones of Greenville; and a very special daughter-in-law, Claire Jones Moore of Chelsea; and a sister, Michell Oliver of Cowarts, AL. 

The Family Requests that flowers be omitted and that memorials be made to the ALS research foundation, PO Box 2888, Huntsville, AL 35804, or to Grandview Baptist Church Building Fund, 2400 Forrester Rd., Dothan, AL 36301. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Enon Church of Christ Cemetery with the Reverends Mike Grimes, Allan Fowler and Allen Singley officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the cemetery beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
