Larry Frank Williams, 73, of Dothan, died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at home with his loving wife and close friends by his side. The youngest of three sons, he was born July 21, 1941 to Alvin and Esther Williams.  He married his sweetheart, Joyce Dudley, in 1964.  Several years after the birth of their only child, Larry and Joyce moved to Birmingham to attend college.  After earning his bachelor’s degree and MBA, they returned to Dothan where Larry founded House of Cabinetry, a cabinet and millwork company.

Before a debilitating stroke in 1989, Larry was the picture of hard work and perpetual motion. He enjoyed traveling, spending time at Lake Eufaula, and serving in his church.  After his stroke, the highlight of his week was attending Sunday services at Evergreen Presbyterian.  Though confined to a wheelchair and the limitations of a brain injury, he never complained about what he had lost and always showed kindness and love to others.  The mutual love and affection he and Joyce had for each other is an inspiration to all who know them.

Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Dudley Williams; daughter, Tanya Williams Beckman (Joe) and grandchildren George, Carly and Kristen of Corvallis, Oregon; brothers Bill Williams (Yvonne) and Norman Williams (Bobbie); sister-in-law Mary Hardy (Eddy) Panama City, FL;  several loving nieces and nephews; and long time caregivers Pauline Floyd (15 years) and Essie McLeod (6 years).

A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at 3 pm Friday, October 24 at Evergreen Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Joe Johnson and Rev. Ashley Drake Mertz officiating.   There will be a reception in the fellowship hall following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evergreen Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.

We wish to thank Pastor Joe and our Evergreen family for their constant support over these last 25 years, including home visits by the choir and nightly assistance from the men of the church. We extend a very special thanks to the many dear friends and family who have stayed by our side through numerous illnesses and hospitalizations, filling our every practical need, as well as supporting us emotionally. You are a reflection of God’s love, and we have been truly blessed.
