Mr. Leonard Dewayne Thomas of Westville, Fla. (New Hope Community) passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 18, 2014.  He was 74.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Thomas Elum and Rev. Cloys Joiner officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Ida United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Thomas was born November 15, 1940 in Holmes County, Fla. to the late Joe Hershel Thomas and Nettie G. Yates Thomas.  He worked as the body shop foreman at Jones Baird Chevrolet for twenty-eight years, and later worked at the Geneva Cotton Mill for eighteen years.  He enjoyed doing woodwork, restoring tractors, gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Lorine Thomas; five siblings, James Thomas, Robie Nell Scott, Ruby Dell Morris, Earl Thomas and Evelyn Summerlin.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Bammer Mims Thomas; four sons, Arnold Thomas, Daniel Thomas, Randy Thomas and Nathan Thomas (Dorothy); five grandchildren, Jessica Exum, Joseph Thomas, Bradley Thomas, Tanya Thomas and Matthew Thomas; three great grandchildren, Gracie Thomas, Jackson Exum and Ella Exum; three sisters, Mikki Perkins, Pat Galloway, all of Westville, Peggy Blakeney (Charles) of Geneva; two brothers, Max Thomas (Texie Mae) and Lamar Thomas (Nancy), both of Westville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
