Mr. Louie Clayton Hendrix, age 84, of Geneva, passed away at Flowers Hospital on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at Westside United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Anderson and Rev. Bradley Chamblee officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westside United Methodist Church, 1010 W. Maple Ave., Geneva, AL 36340, or to your favorite charity.


Mr. Hendrix was born in Hartford on January 14, 1931 to the late Grover and Beatrice Judah Hendrix. He was a longtime and very active member at Westside United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities, most recently as finance chairman. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hendrix was an agent with State Farm for more than forty years. He was also involved in many civic activities throughout his life including having served as a Mason volunteering with Gideons International. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Tucker; and two sisters, Sara Lee Hendrix and Betty Ray Ellis.


He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Gloria Jean Hendrix of Geneva; son, Greg Hendrix (Linda) of Dothan; two daughters, Shirley Hendrix (Rick Boudreau) of North Kingstown, RI and Glenda Hendrix of Hartford; step-son, Chris Gooden (Mona) of Brantley; step-daughter, Yolanda Herrington (John Mark) of Geneva; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Wilburn Hendrix (Mary Jo) of DeFuniak Springs, Fla. and William Lloyd Hendrix (Joy) of Augusta, Ga.; sister, Dorothy Pate of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Tommy Bowers (Sherry) of Pell City and Charles Bowers (Jane) of Dothan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
