Mr. Preston Gilbert of Dothan passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at his home. He was 80.

 

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Willis officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 13, 2013. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund.

 

Mr. Gilbert was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he was an active member of the Senior Adult Department. Mr. Gilbert retired from Cook Receipt Book after 23 years. Previously he was employed by the Dothan Eagle.

 

Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Erin Preston Gilbert, and his son, Dennis Gilbert.

 

Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Naomi Shelley Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was also survived by his children: JoAnn Maxwell (Ned), Chattahoochee, Florida; Bruce Gilbert (Donna), Headland, Alabama; Thomas Gilbert (Kay), Pinckard, Alabama; sister, Dorris Barbree, grandchildren, Michael Gilbert (Misty), Megan Gilbert Osborn (Bobby), Brian Cherry, Daniel Gilbert (Courtney), John Padgett (Christa), Mitchell Padgett, Willie Maxwell (Story), Bonnie Tucker (Brandon), and daughter-in-law, Donna Black Gilbert.

 

The Adult 08 Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
